Installation Guide

Follow these steps to set up Parentyx on your child's Android device.

Important Note

We encourage transparency. Please discuss the use of monitoring tools with your child to build trust.

Step 1: Check Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the following ready:

  • Your child's Android phone (Android 8.0 or higher recommended).
  • A stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or Mobile Data).
  • A Parentyx Parent account — if you don't have one, sign up at parentyx.vercel.app.
  • Physical access to the child's phone for about 10-15 minutes.

Step 2: Download the APK

Get the Parentyx app file on the child's phone:

  • Open the Chrome browser on the child's phone.
  • Go to the download link provided in your Parentyx dashboard.
  • Tap "Download" to save the APK file.
  • If Chrome shows a warning, tap "Download anyway" — the file is safe.

Tip: You can also transfer the APK from your own phone via Bluetooth, WhatsApp, or a USB cable.

Step 3: Allow Unknown Sources

Android blocks installs from outside the Play Store by default. You need to allow it:

  • Go to Settings → Apps → Chrome (or your browser).
  • Look for "Install unknown apps" or "Allow from this source".
  • Toggle it ON.
  • On some phones, this option appears during install — tap "Settings" when prompted.

Tip: On Samsung phones, go to Settings → Biometrics & Security → Install Unknown Apps.

Step 4: Install the App

Now install the Parentyx app from the downloaded file:

  • Open the file manager or go to the Downloads folder.
  • Tap on the downloaded APK file (e.g., parentyx.apk).
  • Tap "Install" when prompted.
  • Wait for the installation to complete, then tap "Open".

Step 5: Grant All Required Permissions

The app needs specific permissions to monitor the device. Grant each one carefully:

  • Accessibility Service — Allows keystroke logging, notification reading, and app monitoring. Go to Settings → Accessibility → Parentyx → Turn ON.
  • Notification Listener — Allows reading incoming notifications. Go to Settings → Apps → Special Access → Notification Access → Enable for Parentyx.
  • Device Administrator — Prevents the app from being uninstalled easily. Go to Settings → Security → Device Admin Apps → Activate for Parentyx.
  • Usage Access — Allows tracking which apps are used and for how long. Go to Settings → Apps → Special Access → Usage Access → Enable for Parentyx.
  • Battery Optimization — Disable battery optimization so the app runs continuously. Go to Settings → Battery → Parentyx → Don't Optimize.
  • Location Permission — Allows live location tracking. Grant "Allow all the time" when prompted.
  • Camera & Microphone — Allows emergency photo/video/audio capture.
  • SMS & Call Logs — Allows reading messages and call history.
  • Storage — Allows accessing files, photos, and screenshots.

Tip: Some phones (Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo) have extra settings like "AutoStart" and "Background Running". Make sure to enable those too.

Step 6: Connect to Your Parent Account

Link the child's device to your Parentyx parent account:

  • Open the Parentyx app on the child's phone.
  • Enter your Parent Account email and password.
  • Give a name to the device (e.g., "Rohan's Phone").
  • Tap "Connect" — the device will now appear in your Parent Dashboard.

Step 7: Hide the App (Optional)

You can hide the Parentyx app icon from the child's home screen:

  • Open the Parentyx app → Go to Settings.
  • Toggle "Hide App Icon" ON.
  • The app will disappear from the home screen and app drawer.
  • To reopen the app later, dial a secret code from the phone dialer (shown in Settings).

Tip: We recommend being transparent with your child. Hiding the app should only be used if absolutely necessary for safety reasons.

Step 8: Verify on Your Dashboard

Confirm everything is working from your parent dashboard:

  • Open parentyx.vercel.app on your computer or phone browser.
  • Log into your Parent Account.
  • You should see the child's device listed in your dashboard.
  • Check that Location, Device Status, SMS, Call Logs, etc. are showing data.
  • If any feature shows "No data", wait 5 minutes and refresh — the first sync takes a moment.
